| Hello World Bankers!
I wanted to take this opportunity to introduce myself and say how excited I am for the conference next month! My name is Grace Lee, and I will be your committtee chair during our three days together in beautiful Brussels. I am currently a senior at Harvard studying biochemistry, and have been with Harvard Model Congress for two years now.
I hope your preparations for the conference are coming together nicely, and that you are getting excited for the conference. I know I certainly am! Please take advantage of this message board if you have any questions regarding the conference, our committee, or anything else that comes to mind. I will be sure to respond to your questions promptly!
I can't wait to meet all of you in just a short time! Until then, take care!
Best, Grace

| Hi Varun,
Thanks for your question. I would suggest that you refer back to the World Bank committee guide for guidelines, which is your main resource in preparing for the conference. Please feel free to post on this message board with any questions you may have after reviewing the committee guide.
Best,
Grace

| Hi!
I just have a few questions on how this conference will run. First of all, will we have time to discuss both topics, or will we focus more on one?
Also, on the guide it states that we will call in representatives from other groups, like the G8, the G15, and NGOs to create policies. Does that mean we will have time during sessions to work with the other delegates, or will we have to find them on our own time? And does it work the same way for all the other groups? (If we are called to other groups, will we have time to do this during sessions, or do we just leave and come back?)
Thanks!
-Jenny L., Senegal

| Hi Jenny,
We will be discussing both topics during the conference, and you will also have the opportunity to interact with the other committees during conference sessions. This means you will be calling delegates from other committees into our committee and may also be called into another committee at various points throughout the conference. You will not have to worry about this outside of session, however.
Best,
Grace

| Hi there,
Will each country be required to speak on their country stand on each issue at the beginning of the conference or will we be drawing up a general speakers list where it is optional for a delegate to speak.
Thank you. Can't wait to be in Brussels!!

| Hello!
This is not my first HMCE but i used to be in House and Senate, what will change in WB? Will we need to move from committee to committee? And to what point to we need to stick to our country's policy?
Thank you very much,
Looking forward to Brussels too!
Damien,
Egypt.

| Hi Damien,
The World Bank will be less strict on parliamentary procedure than the Senate or House to facilitate free-flowing discussion of the topics. This will give everyone the opportunity to talk as much as possible. Basically, we will be spending the first day talking about gender inequality and the second day talking about poverty and agriculture. You should always adhere to your country's agenda throughout the conference. Finally, there is a possibility you will be asked to provide testimony in other committees at some point in the conference. We will also have members of other committees providing testimony for us as well.
In reference to the question before you, there will be approximately 20 people in our committee. While I cannot provide you with a list of people in our committee at this time, you can be assured that everyone will have the opportunity to speak. During the first session we will have introductions as well as time for anyone who wishes to make opening remarks to do so.
Best,
Grace

| Hello, I'm Maya Daaboul from the British International School of Jeddah. I just wanted to know how much detail is required about the country i'm representing for the topics we will be discussing?
Looking forward to seeing you all there

| Hi Maya,
You should try to have a good grasp of your country's background and stance relating to the conference topics. This means that you should definitely do general research on your country's civil rights, poverty, and agricultural status, as well as any demonstrated opinions expressed by your country on those topics. Hence you should know both your country and its politics well.
Best,
Grace
