| Welcome to the National Security Council!
We are so excited that you will be joining us in a few weeks' time, and we really look forward to meeting you and experiencing the conference together. We just finished our HMC conference in Boston, Massachusetts and had a great time, so we can't wait for Brussels! Please let us know if you have any questions as you're preparing for the conference. Best of luck!
Laura & Ben

| Hi, this is my my first time in anything like NSC. I just wanted to ask you if you could give me an idea of how the discussions will be. Is it the same formalities as in the Senate or more "round table"? Thanks for any input!
Cheers,
The Secretary of Defense (Alessandro)

| Hi Alessandro,
Thanks for your post. NSC is in many ways less formal than the Senate. We do not conduct the committee in parliamentary procedure, so we just talk in an open discussion by raising our hands etc. Ben and I will moderate the discussion and add pointers/information as we see fit, but the discussion will really go wherever you delegates decide to take it, given the information with which we provide you. Let us know if you have any more questions!
Laura

| Hey,
This is kinda' like my first time in anything like this. I just wanted to ask when the new briefings are going to be posted up.
Thanks,
Jaiveer.

| Hi Jaiveer,
Thanks for your post. I'm a little bit confused about your question. The three briefing topics for our committee are posted on the committee page, and there are no "new briefings" for NSC. Let me know if you have any other questions. I'm looking forward to the conference!
Laura

| Hi, I would just like to start off by saying how thrilled I am of taking part in the upcoming conference.
In terms of the discussions to be taken place within the NSC; will they be limited to the briefing topics?
Also, could you please outline the formalities of the conference, ie. Procedures etc.
Thank You,
Yomna (The British International School of Jeddah).

| Hi Yomna,
Thanks for your post. We are excited for the conference, too! The discussion in NSC will be related to the briefing topics but will largely revolve around breaking events/news developments that come up during the conference. So, you should be familiar with the briefing materials but know that our conversation will not be limited to them.
As for the formalities of the conference, we will not operate in Parliamentary Procedure. NSC is very much a discussion-based committee, so we will just be debating and discussing various security threats and response options throughout the conference. I hope this answers your question.
Laura

| Hi Laura,
This is my first time in aything such as HMCE and I am extremely looking forward to it.
What approach does the NSC take that makes it more different than any of the other committees?
And I was also wondering if we will be recieving any more updates on the website beore the conference?
Thank you,
AbdulAziz (The British International School of Jeddah)

| Hi Laura,
I'm very happy to be coming to HMCE. This is my second year in the NSC (last year one of my chairs was Chris Miller). I just wanted to know if it would be appropriate to make an introductory speech about our topics.
Many thanks,
Edward (Coordinator for Counterterrorism)
