Welcome!

Dear District Court Delegates,

Welcome to District Court!  During the conference youll have the opportunity to try cases as an attorney, deliver testimony as a witness, and think critically about the facts that help your case.  District Court will teach you about the law, polish your presentation skills and without a doubt, be an experience you wont forget!  I cant wait to meet you, but in the meantime heres a little bit about me.

I am a sophomore at Harvard concentrating in government.  This will be my third HMC Conference, the previous two having been in Boston.  In addition to HMC, I am a member of the Harvard Mock Trial Team in which I play both an attorney and a witness.  On the Mock Trial Team I serve as the Training Director, so I am excited to answer any questions you may have!

Again, Im very excited to start working with you to make the District Court experience great, and a big part of this will be your preparation before the conference. So, I hope youll spend the upcoming weeks preparing your arguments and testimony and developing creative case theories. I encourage you to contact me with any questions you have about the cases or District Court in general. Good luck!

Best,

Rachel

Dear Rachel,
As HMCE delegates, participating in this year's District court we would like to ask you certain questions:1)case 3, "Randi Rebel vs. Robin Edwards and the school district of White River".Can we add constitutional provisions?By this we mean that in Rebel case we also allege a 14th amendement violation which is not written in the comlaint we filled(page 2 of the given material). How binding is the extent and nature of the submitted complaint? Can we add it?We thank you in advance,
Best regards,
The American College of Greece participants.

Dear Delegates,

Thank you for your post. I'm so excited to see that you're diving into the cases with such enthusiasm!

To answer any questions about introducing new Constitutional Amendments, case law, or elements of the complaint, the District Court will not hear material that is not present in the case packets. In other words, please only refer to the laws and materials that have been provided to you and do not supplement them in any way.

Please let me know if you have any other questions!

Best Wishes,
Rachel

Dear Rachel,
Thank you for answering. There is one more question that we would like to ask you. Are we allowed to use any precedents from the United States Supreme Court even though they are not given to us?
Best regards,
The American College of Greece participants.

Dear Delegates,

Just to clarify, the Court will only admit material provided in the packet with no exceptions. You may not admit anything not provided to you.

Best Wishes,
Rachel
